To Help Facilitate Initializing RP

Sho is frequently friendly to a fault, so nearly any reason to approach him will work fine; walkups are always welcome, or slip on into a /tell, regardless of icon status. That said, here are a few ideas if you need more of a reason.

SailorsSho has been sailing on merchant vessels (mostly legit, legal, above board ones...) since he was about 6, so anyone with a maritime background has a perfect excuse. They may have served on a crew together, crossed blades at sea, or just recognize one another - from vaguely to quite well - from ports and dockside matters.

Family MattersSho's family (his father (semi-PC) and brothers (NPCs)) are all well known sailors and/or merchants out of Limsa. It is quite possible that his name would be recognized by all manner of folk, or even have been sent to seek him out by a family member or other family associate.

In a similar vein, his sole sister, T'eirlys Celah (PC), is a crafter and merchant in her own right, and runs the Gaelicat's Rest in the Lavender Beds. It would be easy to pick up threads from there.

Magical ContactsThough he is not himself any kind of mage, in recent time he has been putting out calls for experienced mages, alchemists, and the like, seeking help for his 'problem'.

General Social InteractionDon't underestimate just striking up a conversation, offering to buy a drink, etc.

A Bit About Me

  • I, the player, am spoken for, irl. I have no interest in OOC emotional involvement beyond friendship.

  • I have been playing FFXIV since mid-2016.

  • I have been playing some variety of MMO since the original Ultima Online, and RPing online since the early/mid 90's.

  • I am very open-minded, and willing to try and accommodate most things in RP, whether regular or "ERP".

Preferences

  • Post Length: I have zero preference in terms of post length where my RP partners are concerned. As for myself, I will range anywhere from a short one-liner, to multi-para, depending on how much I have to say. In general conversation, I tend mostly to a line or two of dialogue, and a brief action or supporting description to keep the pace and back-and-forth moving along.

  • Short Term/Long Term: I definitely prefer and adore long term storylines, which I am sadly lacking lately. However, I am definitely not one to turn down any RP, even short term or one-offs.

Language

  • The use of proper grammar and spelling is vastly preferred. Typos and mistakes happen to even the best, of course, but do at least try to put some actual thought into posts and the words you use.

  • Excessively flourishing language - especially when you don't actually understand the words - drives me a little bit nuts. I would much rather play with someone with a 2nd grade vocabulary level who uses the words properly, than someone who tries to sounds 'fancy' but gets the words all wrong.

  • Obscenities - Sho is a sailor, and so unsurprisingly, will cuss a blue streak if he feels the situation calls for it. Generally, though, I keep it to relatively mild, lore-friendly cursing. In intimate rp, the use of crude or vulgar terms does not bother me, and I tend to pattern my language use by that of my partner. If you prefer euphemisms, I will largely use them as well. If you prefer more coarse terms, I will use similar ones (and no, you will not offend me by word choice. People have more than once taken this as a challenge, and did not manage it.)

Hard Limits

  • Anything even remotely sexual concerning minors. Just... no.

  • Bodily waste

  • Non-con/rape

  • Severe physical damage/maiming

(Most anything not on this list is at least negotiable. When in doubt, ask. I am always willing to discuss. I want everyone in the RP to be comfortable and above all to have fun.)
